Do You Truly Trust The Plan And Promise

TRUSTING GOD’S PLAN AND PROMISE FOR YOU

TRUST:  a firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength of someone or something. Similar words are certainty, assurance, confidence

We can trust God and His love for us!❤️

1 Corinthians 13:4–8a (ESV) says, ”Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth.”

God IS love, so we can say with confidence “God is patient and kind, God does not envy or boast…” and so on.

PLAN:  a detailed proposal for doing or achieving something; an intention or decision about what one is going to do. Similar words are strategy, intention, objective

We can trust God and His plan for us!❤️

Jeremiah 29:11 (NLT) says, “For I know the plans I have for you, says the LORD. They are plans for good and not disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”

We often hear or use this Jeremiah verse when someone is going through a hard time or has lost hope. In my past, I never thought too much about this verse. But as I matured in my faith and started walking in a deeper relationship with God, I saw how His love protected me and gave me such perfect peace. I saw how my personal relationship with Him gave me power to overcome difficult things in my life. As I walk with Him I can see His plans often include special assignments designed just for me.

Our God is personal and His plans for each of us are specific. God has designed plans for each one of us, and we can trust that they are GOOD! As we see God work on our behalf, we become more confident and trusting in our relationship with Him. Our life begins to reflect God’s glory as we draw more attention to Him. And as we do this –  loving and obeying God – He will reveal Himself to us. (see John 14:21)

God is faithful to His beloved. He wants us to draw near to Him and truly desire His Presence. Anyone can acknowledge that there is a God, but not all who acknowledge Him as God truly know Him. To know God, truly know Him in your heart, has absolutely nothing to do with being raised in the church, how long you’ve been a believer, your level of education, or even how much you have served in your church. None of those things will help you to know and experience the One true God and His love.

Psalm 91:14 (CSB) says, “Because he has his heart set on me, I will deliver him; I will protect him because he knows my name.”

You see, it’s your heart that has to know Him, to believe Him, and to trust in Him. Encountering God in this way will give you the assurance AND confidence in knowing and receiving God’s promises and plans for your life.

Living the life God wants for us and trusting Him brings many blessings ~

Provision, Favor, Miracles, Signs, Wonders, Healing, and much more! (see Hebrews 11:6)

When you are fully trusting God, you will walk in the way He wants you to go.

Only then you will truly believe what Isaiah 30:21 (NLT) says:

Your own ears will hear Him. Right behind you a voice will say, “This is the way you should go,” whether to the right or to the left.

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the LORD.  Isaiah 55:8

All of us, by now, know that life is full of interruptions. We make plans for a family, a career, or ministry, but sometimes God takes our lives in a different direction; and the question still remains – Do I trust the plans and promises of God for my life? When our plans and God’s plans don’t match up, what should we do?

The book of Jonah is a great example of a man whose plans did not match up with God’s. Here are my thoughts on this amazing story:

Jonah learned the hard way how to respond when God’s plans and his plans did not match. God told Jonah to warn the people of Nineveh that they needed to repent of their evil ways. But Jonah ran from God and ended up in the belly of a big fish, so God had to rescue him.Jonah then did what God had said to do, but when the people of Nineveh repented and God didn’t punish them, the prophet was extremely disappointed. So God gave Jonah an object lesson. God caused a plant to grow large enough to give Jonah shade. Then he sent a worm to attack the plant and kill it. The next day, as the sun beat down on Jonah’s head, he expressed his frustration to God. And that’s when God reminded Jonah of four truths to remember when God’s plans differ from ours.

God can see things you can’t. He can see the past and the present and the future all at the same time. He created time, so He is not subject to time.

God is good to you, even when you’re cranky. Even when you’re going in the opposite direction from God, He still will cover you with shade. God cares about your comfort because that’s the kind of God He is. He loves you even when you’re unlovable.

God is in control of every detail of your life. Your plans don’t fail randomly. God has a purpose for everything in your life. Jonah shows us that God uses both the big (a large fish) and the small (a worm) to direct our lives, but He is in control of it all.

God wants you to focus on what will last. Most of what worries you today won’t be around tomorrow. God wanted Jonah to care about the salvation of the people of Nineveh, not a plant that would die the next day. Above all else, God wants you to focus on getting His Word into your heart and bringing people into His family.

Just because your plans aren’t turning out the way YOU WANT doesn’t mean God isn’t intimately involved in every step. Ask God to help you see His hand in your broken plans, and trust His goodness as He shows you the way forward.

I believe one of the most important questions a Christian can ask themselves is this:

Do I truly LOVE and TRUST God with every aspect of my life? Jesus asked Peter, “Do you love me?” (John 21:15-17)  Jesus asked that question of Peter three times.  How Peter must have felt knowing and remembering how it was when he did lose hope and trust in Jesus!

God’s Word is full of His Promises and Faithful Love for us, the believer, who will trust and grab a hold of them IN FAITH. The LORD said in John 14:15, “If you love Me, you will obey Me.”  Our obedience is a reliable sign that we truly love and trust Him.

  • Describe a time when your plans and God’s plans did not match. How did that work out?
  • Look at the four truths from today’s devotional. Which do you typically need to be reminded of most when you’re struggling with what God is doing?  Why?
  • What are some ways you can keep eternity in mind as you adjust to God’s plan over your own?
