The 7 Spiritual Laws of Faith

FAITH comes by HEARING, and HEARING by the WORD of GOD.

Psalm 19:7-14 says that the INSTRUCTIONS, the DECREES, and the COMMANDMENTS of the LORD are perfect, trustworthy, and right. David, the author of this Psalm, tells us that God’s Word is pure and more desirable than gold.

Do we see the Word of God in the same way? Do we allow it to transform our life as it should?

God’s Word ~ all of it, from Genesis to Revelation ~ has the power to transform all of us in many ways.

Whether you are seeking wisdom in a stressful or difficult situation, encouragement when you are downhearted, or guidance to know which path to take forward, you can find your answers in the pages of the Bible.

David did not have all of the Bible as we have today. He had the ‘law’, the ‘statutes’, the ‘precepts’ and the ‘ordinances’ of the Lord (vv.7a–9b). Even though David did not have a complete Bible, as we do, he saw the importance and power of God’s Word.

As we read God’s Word, we can see and feel the effects it can have in our life:

#1 Revives the soul (v.7a)

#2 Brings wisdom (v.7b)

#3 Gives joy to your heart (v.8a)

#4 Gives light and insight to your eyes (v.8b)

#5 Warns you of danger (v.11a)

#6 Brings great reward (v.11b).

When we read God’s Word in the Bible, we also have the opportunity for prayer.

The Bible is not just any textbook to read. It is one of the ways God speaks to us. The natural response from us should be to speak back to Him in prayer. This reading and praying has the power to change our lives.

We, too, can be guided by the words of God. Jesus was an awesome example of this. He knew what the Word said and used it (see Matthew 4). Jesus went away on His own to speak to the Father, and He was guided into action. By Jesus knowing scripture, He gained faith to believe He was the Son of God, and it was through faith and obedience that He understood who the Father was and His role in the redemption plan of God. He would read portions of scripture and faith would arise in Him to walk out the will of the Father during His ministry on earth.

We, too, can be guided by the words of God. We can ask The Lord to help us follow the example of Jesus, studying the Scriptures and applying them to our own life. We can pray out the Word of God back to our Heavenly Father and ask Him to show us the right path to take.

We all have a choice: to believe in faith, receive the Word and act upon it.

BELIEVE ~ RECEIVE ~ ACT

Though the choice is always ours to make, the BELIEVING, the RECEIVING, and the ACTING all depends on our heart. What condition is YOUR heart in? Can you believe without seeing? Can you receive all that God has for you without knowing? Can you act, in faith, on God’s Word?

There are many examples of Faith vs Unbelief and an Obeying Soft Heart vs a Hardened Heart in the Word of God. One example is found in Exodus, chapters 6 through 8. Moses had to deal with hardened hearts and stiff-necked people. But through all that Moses dealt with, he never stopped listening and obeying God!

We see in Exodus 7:6 that Moses and Aaron listened to God’s words and did exactly what He commanded them to do. They obeyed the Word of God. On the other hand, in stark contrast, Pharaoh constantly refused to obey. He stubbornly disobeyed the Word of God.

Through the prophet Jeremiah, the Lord declared, “This shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; . . . I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts. I will be their God, and they shall be my people.” (Jeremiah 31:33) You see, God has put His Word in our hearts, but it is our choice to believe, to receive, and to act.

Like the ten Commandments, these are the general laws of God that are in our hearts. Our conscience mind works with this law. There is no excuse for a man to say I was never taught how to treat another human being, because God has written this law into the hearts of every human being on earth.

Romans 2:14-15 in the NLT says this:

“Even Gentiles, who do not have God’s written law, show that they know his law when they instinctively obey it, even without having heard it. They demonstrate that God’s law is written in their hearts, for their own conscience and thoughts either accuse them or tell them they are doing right.”

In Romans 4:13-21 we see Abraham’s Faith. He didn’t wait to see God working, or wait to believe what God said to him. Abraham moved, IN FAITH, towards God in obedience.

Spiritual Laws of Faith:

As Christians, we were all given a measure of faith when we came to believe in the very Word of God and that God sent His Son for our sins.

The first thing that we must do to live a life of Faith is to believe in the LORD Jesus Christ. (see Romans 10:9-13)

If you have never accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, now is your chance to do just that.

Invite Him into your heart, right where you are. Surrender everything to Him and allow Him to make you a new creation (see 2 Corinthians 5:17)

That act of faith is all that is required to be forgiven of all your sins and be reborn into the new life Jesus offers.

7 STEPS TO THE SPIRITUAL LAW OF FAITH

#1 We must believe that what we ask for in prayer, we will receive it (Mark 11:24).

#2 We walk by Faith and not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7) The righteous will live by Faith (Habakkuk 2:4)

#3 Faith has to be accompanied by works or action, otherwise it is dead (James 2:17). Obey- action

#4 Obey God moment by moment (John 14:21). Obey-sacrifice

#5 Be a witness for Christ by your life and words (Matthew 4:19; John 15:8). Obey- Witness

#6 Trust God for every detail of your life (1 Peter 5:7). Obey- Trusting

#7 Allow the Holy Spirit to control and empower your daily life. This is a Spirit led life. (Galatians 5:16,17; Acts 1:8). Obey- Surrender

These laws of Faith can become part of your everyday life, if you allow them to be.

“For the [true] love of God is this: that we habitually keep His commandments and remain focused on His precepts. And His commandments and His precepts are not difficult [to obey].”

1 John 5:3, The Amplified Bible

Do you know why the Word of God and the orders God gives to His children are not burdensome or oppressive? It’s because everything that God tells us is for our good, and when we listen and obey, we have the victory!

God knows what it takes to live in victory, and He wants that for His children. Jesus died on the cross so that we could have the victory.

We all want victory in our lives, and in our own faith, which was given to us when we believed and received Jesus,

WE ARE SURE TO HAVE IT!
